Obama meets kid who inspired million-dollar Humans of New York fundraiser

A young man who inspired an Indiegogo campaign that raised more than $1.2 million for a Brooklyn middle school got the chance to meet President Barack Obama this week.

The campaign, launched by Humans of New York blogger Brandon Stanton and the school's principal, Nadia Lopez, will pay for yearly field trips to Harvard University, summer activities and a scholarship fund.

Vidal Chastanet, 13, and Lopez dropped in on the president on Thursday after the White House extended a formal invitation, according to a photo posted to the HONY Facebook page that shows Chastanet sitting at Obama's desk in the Oval Office. Read more...
